How 2021 Registration Works
Registration will open on December 14, but will be a little different from years past as we have numerous deferred athletes to accommodate and many unknowns related to Covid. Registration will be opened in phases with caps placed on the number of spots available. As we progress through the year and have a better idea of what, if any, restrictions we will be under we will open additional spots. Our goal is to make this the biggest and best MiTi yet, but only if we can safely do so. Registration will be opened as follows:
Phase 1
Registration opens 12/14/20 for two weeks to athletes with a deferral code from 2020. Using your code during this two week period will guarantee that you have a spot in the 2021 race. Once we open general registration we can no longer guarantee a spot in the 2020 event. If you are a deferred athlete keep an eye out for an email coming from us later this week with specific instructions on how to register.
Phase 2
After the deferred athletes have had a chance to register we will open up general registration on 12/28/20 for Full and Half distance athletes, but will cap the number of total entries at 600 for the time being. If we have 300 athletes use their deferrals then we will open up 300 spots for general registration. Additional spots will be opened as the situation permits, including Olympic distance spots. We will not be opening any swim only spots at this time (deferred swim only athletes will be welcome to use their registration). This will be a fluid situation throughout the year so be sure to keep an eye out for emails and social media posts as we will do our best to give as much notice as possible regarding when the next round of registrations will be opened.
Virtual Option: MiTi SOLO
We are pleased to announce that we will be offering a virtual option next year as well. Athletes who opt to go this route will receive a shirt, medal, and water bottle included in the price of their registration.
2021 Pricing
Please note, due to the potential limited number of spots we have gone to a flat fee for each event/distance as opposed to the tiered pricing we have used in the past. There are NO price increases from now through race day for the 2021 event.
Event Type | Full | Half | Oly |
Triathlon | $495 | $275 | $125 |
Aquabike/Duathlon | $395 | $225 | $100 |
Relay | $595 | $325 | $185 |
Virtual | $55 | $55 | $55 |
Swim-Only
We have paused our “swim-only” event for all distances. If you registered for one of our swim-only distances in 2020 and are deferring, you can still compete in the swim-only event. If we are able to open more registration spots before race day, we will.
Discounts will still be available for teams so please feel free to contact us if you would like to bring a large group with you.

FAQ
I have a deferral code but would like to change distances. How do I do this?
Email Lori ([email protected]) for assistance.
What about my Olympic distance deferral code?
You can register like you normally would. We are only limiting NEW registrations at this distance for the time being.
Can I transfer my deferral code?
Yes! you may transfer your registration during the initial two week “deferred athletes only” period. Find the athlete wanting to use your registration spot (you can do that on your own, through your tri club, on our Michigan Titanium Athlete’s Forum, through other online forums, etc.) Payment must be handled between the two athlete parties, not Tris4Health. Once that is done, please email Lori ([email protected]) with the transferring athlete copied in order for her to transfer your code to the other athlete. Space will be limited during this event so many athletes who weren’t registered in 2020 that want to race in 2021 will be very interested in these deferral transfers.
What about the Double Down?
There will be no double down medal (for completing Grand Rapids Triathlon as well as MiTi) this year given the potential for limited registrations.
What about the $15 USAT 1 day fee I paid last year?
If you paid $15 for a USAT One-Day Pass in 2020, you will not need to pay that fee again. Check the box indicating you paid in 2020. You should have paid this fee already if you did not have a 2020 USAT Membership. If you did not pay in 2020 or do not/will not have a valid 2021 USAT Membership you will have to pay the $15 fee. Please check that box to pay the fee now.
Next year’s date does not work for me. What do I do?
You can transfer your registration to 2022 by reaching out to Lori ([email protected]).
Athletes who deferred from our cancelled 2020 event:
If you can not race Michigan Titanium on August 22, 2021 you MUST contact us by December 28, 2020 in order to receive a 100% deferral to our 2022 event. If you contact us after December 28, 2020, you will receive the standard 50% discount off an equal distance or shorter race by Tris4Health in 2022.
All other athletes:
If for any reason, you need to withdraw from a race you have already registered, you can request in writing a 50% discount off an equal distance or shorter race by Tris4Health in 2022. In order to be eligible for the Deferral Discount, these requests must be receive by July 21, 2021. For example, if you are currently registered for the half distance triathlon, you will receive a unique discount code to register for a 2022 race. That discount code would give you a 50% of the total you paid for your registration. There will be no refunds under any circumstances. This policy will be strictly adhered to for fairness to all.
